Time Trials & Team Picture!
Our season kicks off with one of the best days on the calendar. We gather seed times, run our first relays, snap the team photo, and welcome new families to the FAST environment. Bring the whole crew!
Why Time Trials Matter
Time trials are how we set the stage for the whole season. It's a low-pressure, high-fun evening that gets every swimmer ready for league competition. Swimmers do not have to swim every event if they're not comfortable, but we encourage each FAST Fin to swim as many events as they can, even if they cannot legally do the stroke yet. Here's what the night is all about.
We Gather Seed Times
Every swimmer races each stroke so we can record official times. These seed times are how swimmers get properly placed in heats and lanes once the league season starts.
We Practice Relays
Relays are the loudest, most fun part of any meet. Time trials give our swimmers a chance to practice exchanges and team chemistry before they count.
New Swimmers Get A Feel
For first-timers, this is the perfect intro. New swimmers get to experience how a meet runs and what the environment is like, all without the pressure of a real competition.
Parents Volunteer For The First Time
Time trials are a great first volunteer opportunity. Parents get to learn the ropes in a relaxed setting so meet days feel easy all season long.
Every Skill Level Belongs
No matter where your swimmer is in their journey, we want the full team there. We have swimmers of all ages who may not be legal in every stroke yet, and that's totally fine. We encourage everyone to give each stroke a try, legal or not. This is the place to test the waters.
Developmental Swim For Mites
We'll have a developmental swim for all mites who can't make it across the pool on their own yet. They'll get cheered on in a meet-like environment with a kickboard and a coach right by their side. It's the best kind of first race.

Warmups & Instruction
Coaches lead warmups and walk swimmers through how time trials will work.
Time Trials Start
Swimmers race each stroke to set their seed times, plus relay practice.
End Of Meet
We wrap up the evening. Times are recorded and the season is officially underway!
Picture Day!
We'll also be taking our 2026 team photo this day at 5:00 PM. Please arrive on time in your team gear and team shirt so we capture every single Fin. Swimmers will receive their team shirt at Monday practice the day before, or at the event on Tuesday if they can't make Monday.
The Green Apple Food Truck
No need to cook on time trials night. The Green Apple food truck will be on site, so grab dinner, hang with your FAST family, and enjoy the evening.
Even better: The Green Apple will donate 10% of sales back to the team! So grabbing dinner supports our Fins.
